Mining in Barboursville: Wetlands

The US Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) has identified wetlands within the proposed mine site (see map). Because of this, a federal wetlands permit is required. The National Historic Preservation Act requires that, before issuing federal permits, a review of the project's impact on historic resources must be completed. The ACOE is coordinating this review, in cooperation with Virginia's Department of Historic Resources and other consulting parties.
